Helpful information

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a vocal coach and a singing teacher?
The terms are often used interchangeably. In practice, vocal coaching covers far more than learning songs: healthy vocal technique, breath control, range, tone, interpretation, confidence and performance skills, alongside repertoire chosen to suit your voice.
Do I need previous singing experience?
No. Complete beginners are very welcome. Your coach will introduce the fundamentals gradually and choose exercises and songs appropriate for your current level.
Am I too old to begin vocal coaching?
Not at all. Adults can begin singing at any age. Many students take their first lesson in adulthood, while others return after a break of many years.
What happens during a vocal coaching lesson?
Each lesson is tailored to you. A typical session may include breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, technical work and repertoire, concentrating on whichever areas matter most for your voice at the time.
What styles of singing do you teach?
Our vocal coaches work across pop, jazz, musical theatre, classical, soul, rock and contemporary music. Lessons are shaped around the style you enjoy most while still developing a strong and healthy technique.
Can vocal coaching help improve my range and vocal control?
Yes. With the right exercises and consistent practice, you can develop greater control throughout your range, improve breath support, strengthen weaker areas of the voice and sing with more freedom and consistency.
How often should I have lessons?
Most students attend one lesson each week. Regular weekly tuition provides continuity and allows your coach to monitor your development closely.
Can you help me prepare for an audition?
Yes. Lessons may include repertoire selection, vocal technique, interpretation, acting through song, performance confidence and simulated audition practice.
Do you offer vocal coaching for professional singers and performers?
Yes. We work with singers of all levels, including experienced and professional performers. Coaching can focus on advanced technique, repertoire, auditions, performances, recording preparation or a specific vocal challenge.
Can I choose my vocal coach?
Yes, you are welcome to choose your vocal coach. Alternatively, we would be delighted to recommend the most suitable teacher based on your musical interests, experience, goals and availability.
Do you offer online vocal coaching?
Yes. Online vocal coaching can be arranged if you are unable to attend in person, or if you prefer the flexibility of studying remotely. Lessons remain private, one-to-one and tailored to your goals.
Where do lessons take place?
Our main teaching location is 21 Fleet Street, London, EC4Y 1AA, in the City of London. Depending on your chosen vocal coach and current availability, lessons may occasionally also be arranged at one of our other central London teaching locations.
